What You Should Focus On

It can be difficult to know which stage of The Buddy System to focus on based on where you currently are - even for our own agency account managers...

Below, we have listed a decision tree which can help you understand which stage to focus on.

Please read the instructions for each stage and review the list in descending order until you have determined which stage is appropriate for you to focus on right now.


Introduction

If all of the following statements are true for you, you should focus on the Introduction stage:

  • Dont have a sizable fan base (~1000 or more real, engaged fans, not counting immediate social network)
  • Dont have a way to consistently gain new fans
  • Dont have a way to put your content in front of new people
  • Not gaining new fans on a consistent basis

Otherwise, continue on...


Education

If all of the following statements are true for you, you should focus on the Education stage:

  • Having trouble getting people to sign up to your list or make a purchase
  • Gaining fans in Introduction but they’re not sticking around
  • Having trouble keeping people engaged beyond Introduction, Permission, or Affirmation

Otherwise, continue on...


Permission

If all of the following statements are true for you, you should focus on the Permission stage:

  • Don’t have or unable to grow email list
  • Don’t have a way to communicate directly with your growing fan base
  • Having trouble generating sales
  • Losing fan attention after a while

Nurturing

If any of the following statements are true, you should immediately focus on the Nurturing stage:

  • Having trouble generating any purchases from email subscribers (includes Affirmation)
  • Getting negative customer or subscriber feedback
  • Experiencing low or falling open and click rates

If some of the following statements are true for you, you may need to focus on the Nurturing stage if you reach the end of this decision tree:

  • Dont have automations in place to communicate with new subscribers or customers
  • Dont send emails regularly

Affirmation

If any of the following statements are true, you should immediately focus on the Affirmation stage:

  • Don’t have any products
  • Dont have any low priced, introductory offers
  • Not generating sales

Otherwise, continue on...


Ascension

If any of the following statements are true, you should immediately focus on the Ascension stage:

  • Not profitable
  • Low or no repeat customers
  • Cant grow revenue beyond current point without massively increasing cost
  • Dont have an offer that someone hasn’t taken yet

Otherwise, continue on...

Referral

If any of the following statements are true, you could focus on the Referral stage:

  • Dont have a referral stage strategy already
  • Fans are sharing your content on a consistent basis
  • No other immediate need is present in your business
